Activity Programme in Edinburgh

Edinburgh Language School Activity Programme |
We offer students in Edinburgh the option of joining our activity and excursion programme. The full activity and excursion programme runs during the first two weeks of the Edinburgh Festival from Monday 03 August to Friday 14 August. After 14 August, excursions will be available on an optional basis and can be paid for at the school.
Do I need to take part on the Edinburgh Language School actvity programme?
No, you can if you wish, arrange your own actvities in Edinburgh. During the Edinburgh Festival period there is plenty to do and see!
Can I do just part of the Edinburgh Language School actvity programme?
Yes, but it is a fixed price, and if you fail to take part on some actvities there is no refund.
What is included in the Edinburgh programme?
We include all trips and admission to the places listed on the programme, except admission into the Palace of Holyrood House and a ticket to take part, if you dare, on The Ghost Walk!
Are tickets for the Edinburgh Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle included?
Yes, tickets for the Edinburgh Tattoo are included.
Edinburgh Language School Programme, learn English during the Edinburgh Festival period and have a wonderful time!

MONDAY
03 August |
09:00 – 10:30 & 11:00 – 12:30 LESSONS take place at St Thomas of Aquin's High School in Chalmers Street EH3 9ES. This is situated off Lauriston Place. It is about a 15-20 minute walk from the middle of Princes Street or catch the number 27 bus from Hanover Street (runs every 10 minutes) and get off at The Chalmers Hospital on Lauriston Place.
Afternoon Activity: BUS TOUR OF EDINBURGH
After the tour our leaders will help you with any information you need regarding bus services and suggest some nice places to meet for a drink as well as information on the famous EDINBURGH FRINGE FESTIVAL |

TUESDAY
04 August |
09:00 – 10:30 & 11:00 – 12:30 LESSONS
Afternoon Activity: VISIT THE SCOTTISH PARLIAMENT OLD & NEW AND HOLYROOD PARK. Optional visit to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, originally a monastery founded in 1128. (Admission into the palace is not included). Optional walk up Arthur’s Seat 251m. above Edinburgh. You will need good shoes!
Evening activity: 20:30 OPTIONAL VISIT TO SOME LOCAL PUBS, some with live folk music. Meet at The White Hart Inn, Grassmarket EH1 2HS

Afternoon Activity: Visit to EDINBURGH CASTLE an ancient stronghold which dominates the sky-line of the city of Edinburgh from its position atop Castle Rock

Depart from Crichton Street for an EXCURSION TO LOCH LOMOND the largest surface area of fresh water loch in the UK. It is 39km long, 8km wide and 180m at its deepest point |

Afternoon Activity: Visit to the ROMAN VILLAGE OF CRAMOND in the north west corner of Edinburgh situated on the east bank of the River Almond where it enters the Firth of Forth forming a natural harbour

We no longer offer a fixed programme, however students will have the opportunity of taking part on excursions by purchasing tickets at the school. |
